Engine Baffles page 3

The right rear baffle is fitted in place. There is a pre drilled hole in the baffle to clear the engine mounting bolt (see arrow in picture):

Some trimming was needed to get the baffle to properly fit the engine.  Just a little around the area toward the top and near the engine bolt hole.  It was also trimmed a bit down on the side of the engine area.

Here is the right rear baffle, showing how it meets up with the center brace that we installed earlier:

I might have to remake or re-shape the brace. Just eyeballing it, it appears to be sitting a bit too tall to fit under the cowling after trimming. We will see when we start trimming.

There is a little brace included with the kit that fits a threaded hole on the side of the engine case and gets riveted to the bottom of the right rear baffle as shown here:

Note that the oil fill tube had to be removed and the hole was covered with some tape to keep debris out of the sump.

The right rear baffle was then drilled and clecoed to the side baffle using the pre-punched holes:

Next the first of the two left side rear baffles was trimmed a bit to fit and installed:

This inner one just slips in place and overlaps the right one at the center brace support.

The inner one has an odd shaped hole to clear the engine mount.  It kind of straddles the mount as shown here:

I'll later fill the gap around the engine mount with some of the baffle seal material.

The final rear baffle is the outboard left one. It also has one of those little rod/bolt combinations that slide into a slot in the cylinder head (like on the right side):

Van's made this baffle piece (and the side one that it connects to) out of some thicker aluminum in anticipation that an oil cooler will be mounted here.
